Chobani, known for its popular Greek yogurt, is expanding its high-protein product lineup with a fresh range of yogurt cups and drinks. Consumers increasingly seek nutrient-rich foods, especially those packed with protein.
The new Chobani High Protein series offers something for everyone. The yogurt cups contain a generous 20 grams of protein per serving, while the drinks come in three protein levels: 15 grams, 20 grams, and, for the first time, 30 grams.
Chobani’s previous high-protein drink had 20 grams and was part of its Complete line, but it has now been rebranded under the High Protein label.
Meeting the Growing Demand for High-Protein, Low-Sugar Foods
According to Niel Sandfort, Chobani’s Chief Innovation Officer, consumers’ interest in high-protein, low-sugar options has moved beyond just athletes and fitness enthusiasts. More people now look for these products to support their health and dietary goals.
“As consumers look for functional foods that fit their needs, Chobani High Protein offers a tasty, affordable solution with various flavors and protein options,” Sandfort said.
He noted that many existing products are often less natural, and people must improve their taste or ingredients to meet their protein goals.
Chobani’s High Protein series aims to offer a natural, great-tasting option that appeals to a broader audience, including women and those who are newer to high-protein diets.
Why Protein Matters More Than Ever
Chobani shared research showing that more than half of consumers want to increase their protein intake. For many, high-protein and low-sugar products are priorities in their diets. The trend has extended to foods like milk, peanut butter, snack bars, chips, and macaroni and cheese.
Yogurt is another product benefiting from this shift. Brands like Danone’s Oikos and General Mills’ Ratio also offer high-protein options. However, Chobani is setting its products apart by focusing on natural ingredients.
What Positions Chobani High Protein Apart
Chobani High Protein products are unique in that they contain no added sugar, protein powders, or artificial preservatives. They’re also free from protein concentrates. The company highlights the importance of protein alongside vitamin B12 for its benefits in energy release, hunger control, and muscle support.
Flavor Options and Availability
Chobani High Protein products come in various flavors, including Strawberries and Cream, Vanilla, Tropical Punch, and Cookies and Cream. The cups are already hitting stores and will be available nationwide this fall. The drinks, meanwhile, are expected to debut in January.
A Continued Focus on Core Products
While Chobani has dabbled in oat milk, creamers, and cold brew coffee in recent years, the company is doubling its yogurt offerings. This shift strengthens its position in the $1 billion yogurt market.
Last year, Chobani introduced dessert-inspired Chobani Creations, designed to expand yogurt consumption beyond breakfast. The company also launched Zero Sugar drinkable yogurt, catering to consumers looking for more portable and healthier snack options.
The Future of Chobani and High-Protein Foods
Chobani is betting on continued consumer interest in protein-packed, convenient, and natural products with the new High Protein line. As protein remains a top priority for health-conscious consumers, Chobani’s latest offerings will likely become a staple in many households.
The full rollout of Chobani High Protein products, from cups to drinks, reflects the company’s commitment to providing nutritious, high-quality options that align with today’s wellness trends.
